Josip Dragnić is Croatian guitarist, guitar professor and music festival organizer. He was born in Split in 1980 and has more than twenty five years experience as a musician. He has played across Croatia and abroad (Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Denmark, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia and Bosnia & Herzegovina) in a concert halls such as Philharmonie Luxembourg, Sofia Philharmonic hall, Théâtre des Halles Avignon, La Grande Salle du Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, Concert hall Vatroslav Lisinski Zagreb, Concert hall Hrvatski dom Split, Croatian National Teather in Split and Šibenik and festivals such as Seville Guitar Festival, Ronda Guitar Festival, Euro Chamber Music Festival Gdansk, Augsburg Guitar Festival, Lagoa Guitar Festival, Imago Festival Ljubljana, Geneva Puplinge Classics, March Music Days Rousse, Rainy Days Luxembourg and many others. He regularly performs as a soloist and as a member of chamber music formations. He is regularly a guest in various TV and radio shows on Croatian National Television and Croatian National Radio. Josip received his musical education in the Music school Josip Hatze in Split, at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuernberg (Germany) with world famous professor and guitarist Franz Halasz and at the Academy of Arts in Split, where he received a master degree in guitar with professor Maroje Brčić. He also had masterclasses with world’s famous guitarists and teachers such as Costas Cotsiolis, Ante Čagalj, Aniello Desiderio, Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukić, Ricardo Gallen, Hubert Kappel, Carlo Marchione, David Russell, Pavel Steidl, Scott Tennant and Fabio Zanon.
Josip has won numerous prizes at various competitions as a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles including prizes at Croatian regional and national competitions for young musicians, “Darko Lukić” tribune , “Enrico Mercatalli” competition in Italy and others. In 2004 he has graduated at Split Faculty of Science and became a professor of mathematics and informatics science. Josip is founder of Association MAG, organizer of Chamber music festival and Classical Guitar Days festival that take place in Split under the patronage of Croatian President and Croatian Ministry of Culture. He is also founder and member of Split Guitar Quartet since 2010. Josip has been working as a guitar professor in music schools and conservatoires in Croatia, Germany and Luxembourg since 2002 and his students have won highest prizes at national as well as international competitions in Croatia, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses and to be a member of the guitar and chamber music competition juries in Croatia and abroad. He was member of the jury at the first Eurostrings competition finals held in Zagreb in March 2018. Since 2013 Josip lives in Luxembourg where he maintains very intensive pedagogical and concert activity. He teaches at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and UGDA music school. Together with his colleague Hany Heshmat, Josip is founder and artistic director of the Luxembourg Guitar Festival.
