Josip has been active musician for more than twenty years as a soloist but mostly as a member of various chamber music ensembles. He had his first international tour as a member of mandolin orchestra Sanctus Domnio from Split when he was 14 years old. Since then he has performed as a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles across Croatia and abroad. Josip won several prizes at various international and Croatian national competitions: 1st priizes as a member of mandolin quartet and guitar quartet at Croatian National Competitions, 1st prize as a soloist at Dalmatian Regional Competition, 3rd prize as a soloist at Croatian National Competition, 2nd prize with Duo Allegro at Croatian Competition for Young Artists, 3rd prize with Duo Allegro at International Chamber Music Competition in Gorizia (Italy).

Duo Allegro

Duo Allegro (Josip Dragnić - guitar and Mila Lapov - flute) had first appearance in 2004 in a series of concerts for young musicians within the Brač cultural summer. Since then Duo have held more than 70 autonomus concerts in Croatia and abroad. For the concert held in December 2009 in the most famous Croatian concert hall "Vatroslav Lisinski", Duo Allegro has been awarded with the Diploma „Darko Lukić“ by the Croatian association of musicians and they have published a CD with the live recording of the concert. In June 2010 Duo won third prize at International chamber music competition in Gorizia, Italy. Duo Allegro's repertoire consists of pieces beginning from reneissance, baroque, classicism, romaticism and goes as far as modern music, including pieces by Croatian composers. Some of the modern pieces had their world and Croatian premiere in the interpretation of Duo Allegro. Duo's music has been played several times in the International programme of the Croatian Radio (''Voice of Croatia''), Croatian Radio Third Channel (''Seven days of music'') and in the shows of the Croatian Radio Split, where Josip and Mila were able to present themselves with an interview and by performing pieces. In 2012 Duo have recorded a second CD which is a live recording of the concert held in the beautiful Our Lady Church in Split.

Split guitar quartet

Split guitar quartet was founded in 2010 with the aim of enriching the guitar scene in Split. The quartet is formed by prizewinning guitarists, former students of music schools in Split and of the Music Academy in Split: Kajo Milišić, Josip Dragnić, Goran Cetinić Koća and Martin Andrijašević. During the three years of their performing the Quartet has held numerous concerts which have been well accepted by the audience and by the critics. Their music has been played in various radio shows at Croatian national radio – Third channel and Croatian radio Split. The repertoire of the Quartet conisist of transcriptions, compositions originally written for this kind of formation as well as compositions of Croatian composers, which is in line with the Quartet's tendency to support the work of Croatian composers.

Solo and other

Although he is mainly engaged in chamber music, Josip has performed as a soloist in Croatia and abroad. His repertoire consists of a works by Weiss, Llobet, Albeniz, Villa - Lobos, Morel and others. Besides playing as a member of Duo Allegro and Split guitar quartet, Josip has played concerts with renown Croatian violinist Antoinette Besak. In the last few years Josip performed as a soloist with a String Chamber Orchestra MAG, Chamber Orchestra Cercle Culturel Luxembourg and with String Quartet HIP4tet from Spain. In 2015 he became a member and co-founder of Ars Nova Lux ensemble.
